About Sofia
Sofia Durante is an Italian-Canadian Mezzo-Soprano who recently graduated with her M.M. in Vocal Performance at the Mannes School of Music in New York City. She completed her B.M. at McGill University in Montreal Sofia has been a young artist with Classic Lyric Arts, Premiere Vocal Arts Institute, and The Boston University Tanglewood Institute.
Sofia has performed the roles of Eliza in Dark Sisters, 2nd Knabe in Die Zauberflote, and Susanna cover in Le Nozze di Figaro. With Opera McGill, she played Gabrielle in Cinderella, Isabel in Rosa, Mrs. Buchannan and Graduate Girl Street Scene, and Fanchon in Les Troquers.
Sofia has received awards such as The Pauline Donalda Memorial Scholarship and Award, The Calabrese Scholarship, The Sons of Italy Music Scholarship, The Giuseppe Spoletini Music Scholarship, and The CCSD Drama Scholarship. Sofia has had the opportunity to sing with The Calgary Civic Symphony Orchestra, The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Sofia also had the pleasure of working with artists such as acclaimed soprano Barbara Frittoli, and conductor Bruno Niccoli of La Scala.
In addition to her musical career, Sofia currently works as the Programs and Marketing Assistant for Classic Lyric Arts, and the Social Media Assistant for ArtSmart. She also maintains a small private voice studio in New York City.
